This doctoral dissertation deals with the phytochemistry and pharmacology studies on the medicinal plants, Tetrastigma hemsleayanum Diels et Gilg (Vitaceae), Tetrastigma hypoglaucum Planch, and Cypripedium tibeticum King et Rolfe(Orchidaceae). In addition, the chemical and pharmacological research works about Vitaceae were also reviewed.Sixteen compounds have been isolated from the ethanol extract of whole herb of Tetrastigma hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis (IR, UV, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, HMQC, HMBC, EI-MS and FAB-MS) and chemical methods , their structures have been determinated , in which two flavonoid C-glycosides of them are novel compounds: apigenin-6-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1-4)-α-L-arabinopyranoside (10) and apigenin-8-a-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1-4)-α-L-arabinopyranoside (11). The others , including three triterpenes (taraxerone, taraxerol, α-amyrin), two flavonoids (kaempferol-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, apigenin-6,8-di-β-D-glucopyranoside), four phenolic acids (salicylic acid , succinic acid , lacceroic acid, ethyl gallate), three sterols and glycosides (β-sitosterol, ergosterol, daucosterol) , one cyclopeptide (cyclotetraglutamipeptide) and mannitol, were isolated from this genus for the first time.Twelve compounds were obtained and identified from the ethanol extract of whole herb of Tetrastigma hypoglaucum Planch, from this genus for the first time. One of them is a novel compound : (Z)-9,12, 13-Trihydroxy-octadec-10-enoic acid, and the others were two ellagic acids (3,3'-dimethoxy...
