There is a strong trend towards metal-free restorations in modern dentistry. These restorations are providing an alternative for patients with metal allergies or an undesirable grayish shade in restored teeth. Furthermore, they are also producing highly aesthetic results. Accordingly, biocompatibility and aesthetics are also an important issue. Now, efforts are underway to replace the metal materials with ones made of biocompatible materials. Moreover, a biocompatible all-ceramic composite system with which the translucency and strength of natural teeth can be simulated has been developed and used in the clinic.However, at present, the application of all-ceramic restorations and the precious metal porcelain fixed denture still need to have massive healthy teeth cut.
