We studied on the chemical constituents of the animal Asterias rollentias Bell, and red algar Gracilaria tenuistipitata by all kinds of chromatographical techniques (such as silica gel chromatography, sephadex LH-20 and HPLC etc.), 23 compounds were isolated from Asterias rollentias Bell, and determined by means of physicochemical evidences and spectral methods, these 19 compounds were identified as rollentoside A: 3β-O-{3-O-methyl-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→3)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-( 1→4)-O-β-D-Quinopyranosyl-(1→2)-O-β-D-Xylopyranosyl} -16-β-acetoxy-2 3S-acetoxy-holost-7-ene (1), (25, 35, 4R)- 2- (13-methyl-pentadecanoylamino)-nondecane-1, 3, 4-triol (2),(2S, 3S, AR, 10E)- 2-docosanoylamino-10- heptadecene-1, 3,4-triol (3), (2S, 3R, 15E)-2-{2'R-hydroxy -tridecanoylamino}-15- tetracosanene-1, 3-diol (4), 1-O- β-D-glucopyranosyl (25, 3R,4E,8E, 10E)-2- {2'-hydroxy (2'R,15'Z)-15'-pentacosenoylamino} -4,8, 10-heptadecatriene-1, 3-diol.(5),1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (2S,3R, 4E)-2-{2'-hydroxy (2'R,14'Z)-14'-tricosenoylamino} -4-tridecene-l, 3-diol ( 6 ). l-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (2S, 3R, 6E)-2- { 2'-hydroxy (2'R,14'Z)-14'-tricosenoylamino} -6-pentadecene-l, 3-diol ( 7 ). 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (25, 3R)-2-(2'R-hydroxy-pentadecanoylamino)-docosane-1, 3-diol (8), 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (2S,3R, 4E, 9Z)-2-(2'R-hydroxy-eicosanoylamino)-4, 9-octadecadiene-1, 3-diol (9), 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (2S, 3R, 4E, BE, 10E)-2-(2'R -hydroxy-octadecanoylamino)-4, 8, 10-hexadecatriene-1, 3-diol (10), 1-O- β-D-glucopyranosyl (2S, 3R, 4E, 11Z)-2-(2'R -hydroxy-heptadecanoylamino)-4,11-eicosadiene-1, 3-diol (11), rollentoside B: 3β-O-{3-O-methyl-β-D-xylopyranosyl-( 1→3)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-( 1→4)-O-β-D-quinopyranosyl-(1→2)-O-β-D-xylopy ranosyl}-16-β-acetoxy-holost-7-ene (12), 4-methyl-cholesta-7-ene-3β-ol (13), 4-methyl -cholesta-7, 24-diene-3β-ol (14), cholesta-7-ene-3β-ol (15), cholesta-7, 22-diene-3β-ol (16) , 24-ethyl-cholesta-7-ene-3β-ol (17),ergosta-7, 24 (28)-diene-3-ol (18), ergosta-7, 22-diene-3-ol (19). Compounds 1-11 are new compound, compound 12 is a new natural product and others are the first obtained from the animal Asterias rollentias Bell. Compound1, 12 have the structure with holost, they are the first obtained from the animal starfish.It was reported that the holosts have antitumor activity, so, compondsl, 12 were further tested...
