With the development of the society, more and more people hope to wear an esthetic prosthesis to enjoy a beautiful smile, which has been believed to be one of the most important interactive communication skills of a person. The advancing prosthodontics has brought us a new technology which combines the PFM (porcelain fused to metal) technique and the casting framework of RPD (removable partial denture). We developed a new type of Co-Cr dental alloy named DA9-7 with good biological performance, excellent mechanical function, favourable metal-ceramic bonding and clinical maneuverability. The Co-Cr dental alloy is gray, but it becomes a gray-green look, while oxidated. In order to accumulate more data of the alloy's properties and provide guildlines for clinic application, the effects of the thickness of both opaque ceramic and dentin ceramic on the color parameters were analyzed, as well as the effects of repeated firings, preoxidation and glazing methods on the color appearance of metal-ceramic specimens were assayed. The color was quantitatively measured with a colorimeter (JY9800) at the center position of each specimen. All the observations were statistically analyzed with SPSS for Windows ver. 11.0. Finally, some results were drawn as following:1) The color of different metal-ceramic systems has chromatic...
