The assessment of bone age is crucial for the analysis of children's growth level and plays an important "role in orthodontics. Tanner-Whitehouse 2 (TW2) method which is based on the survey of English children is often used to assess skeletal maturity in aboard, but it is not suitable to Chinese children because of heredity and environment factor. On the other hand, estimating bone age is not popular in clinical practice due to its complexityand long examination. This study is to develope a computer image-processing system for assessing bone age in Chinese children. In this research, the standards of estimating skeletal maturity of the hand and wrist for Chinese-CHN scoring method are used to assess the bone ages of Chinese children.
