Hepatocellular carcinoma is the seventh most common cancer in men and the ninth in women: some 310,000 to 1 million new cases occur each year in the world. Hepatocellular carcinoma clearly has a peculiar geographic distribution. Incidence is high in China. The natural history of hepatocellular carcinoma in its floid form is one of rapid progression. Death often ensues within 4~6 months. In developed countries the tumor generally runs a somewhat more benign course, and survival may be prelonged. At present, resection offers the best chance for cure of hepatocellular carcinoma. Unfortunately, the proportion of sympatomatic patients with resectable tumors is small less than 20% in countries where hepatocellular carcinoma occurs most often. Moreover, the recurrence rate after resection is high. In selected patients, bland embolization or embolization with simultaneous administration of Lipiodol and anticancer drugs has been used to reduce the viable tumor mass before surgery, but it has not yet been clearly established that the advantage gained is offset by the disadvantages. A large numer of anticancer agents, including alkylating agents, antitumor antibioltics, antimetabolites, and various other agents such as platinum derivatives, procarbazine, and emetine, have been tried, alone and in a variety of combinations and by different routes of administration, to treat hepatocellular carcinoma, but the predictable response rate has always been less than 20%. Additionally, drug toxicity is frequent. Current trials are investigateing the use of plant derivatives , much attention has been paid to Chinese herd, because it has little toxicity, not susceptible to get drug resistance, has multimeans in antitumor.Baicalin is the main composition of traditional Chinese herb Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, possess extensive pharmacological activities. Besides the...
