Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the complaint of involuntary leakage of urine on effort or exertion, or on sneezing or coughing. The urine leakage during stress without a detrusor contraction is defined as genuine stress urinary incontinence (GSUI). SUI is common in middle-aged and elderly women. According to epidemiological researches, SUI is the result of some associated risk factors, such as age, obesity, menopause, pregnancy and vaginal delivery, pelvic surgery, and so on.Urodynamics is an important subdiscipline of urology and is the hydrodynamic study of urine transport, store and excretion in the urinary system. Thorough urodynamic examination is an ideal, direct and quantitative way to reflect urinary tract function and is of significance in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of stress urinary incontinence (SUI).Urethral incompetence is the basic hydrodynamical mechanism in SUI. The pathophysiologies of urethral incompetence are urethral hypermobility and intrinsic sphincter deficiency(ISD) . And there is a combination of both pathophysiologies in many patients. To date, large-scale urodynamic studies on SUI have not been carried out in China. The significance of some urodynamic parameters in the diagnosis of SUI is still controversial; the effect of SUI's etiological factors on urodynamic parameters and the role of urodynamics in the pathogenesis of SUI remain unclear. In addition, relevant literature is scarce. Objectives:Systematic urodynamic examination and analysis were performed in a number of patients with stress urinary incontinence, so as to:â‘ further elucidate the role of urodynamic examination in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of SUI;â‘¡bring up with our opinions as to the value of some controversial urodynamic parameters;â‘¢...
