ObjectiveTo observe the neuroimmune-regulating effect and molecular mechanism of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), β-endorphin (β-END) ameliorating collagen induced arthritis (CIA), further to explore new promising therapy on rheumatoid arthritis (RA).MethodsEstablishment of CIACIA models were established on 60 female wistar rats by injection of Native Bovine type II collagen (C II) emulsified with complete Freund's adjuvant. Clinical and laboratorial, histological, and radiological evaluations of CIA models including pad thickness & arthritis index (AI), anti-C II antibody (ELISA), pathological score (HE stain on article) and X-ray score (X-ray examination) were performed respectively by two independent, blinded examiners every other day or on the 35th day after the primary immunization.Neuroimmune-regulating effect of VIP and β-END Experiment in vivoVIP and β-END were administered i.p. to CIA rats (5/group) at the specified doses (0.1nmol, 1nmol, 5nmol) every other day from the 14th day (secondary immunization) to the 35th day after primary immunization. Clinical, laboratorial, pathological and radiological assessment were conducted as mentioned above; mRNAs of TNF-α,...
