Objective: To study the clinical significance and the treatment strategy of the new classification of the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), namely the Revised European-American-World Health Organization classification of lymphoid neoplasms (REAL-WHO classification). Methods: According to the new classification of NHL ,we investigated 1125 patients diagnosed with NHL who were treated with the combination-chemotherapy based on containing anthrcycline with or without the radiotherapy from Jan, 1996 to July,2003 for the clinical and pathological features, complete remission (CR) after treatment, long-term survival rate, prognostic factors as well as the correlations with the clinical characteristics. In the meantime, we also evaluate the clinical characteristics, CR after treatment and the clinical prognosis with International Prognostic Index (IPI) of the main pathological subtypes. Results: The total CR is 62.0% and disease-free survival (DFS) rate and overall survival (OS) rate at five-year are 52.3% and 46.8%,respectively. The clinical analysis show that the advanced stage (stage III or IV),poor performance status (ECOG2~4),B-symptom,aged(>60), bulky disease(mass≥10cm), high the serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) value...
