It has own special theories and systems, and it is also an important part of Chinese culture. At the same time, because of its history, culture and particular, it makes most of people confused. TCM aims to correct maladjustments and to restore the self-regulatory ability of the body, but not to antagonize specific pathogenetic targets. Maladjustments in diseases can be classified into several 'patterns' according to TCM theories. Multiple diseases might share one 'pattern' and be treated by the same herbal formula whereas one disease might display several different 'patterns' and be treated by multiple formulae. These principles are supported by evidence that multi-system changes in one pattern can be modulated by a herbal formula. These approaches used in biology and pharmacogenetics systems are similar to the practices of TCM.In the ancient China, poor knowledge about the pathological changes that occur inside the body did not hinder diagnosis by TCM. Indeed, in TCM, the visible signs and symptoms of patients were analyzed to identify the type of inside maladjustments. Comparing to modern medicine, TCM only has abstract theories instead of inherent morphology. Because of this reason, TCM made little progress in past years and affected holistic increase of TCM.In fact, with the development of biology systems, new ideas, methods and...
