Part oneCorrelation between Genetic Background andBiofilm Phenotype in Staphylococcus Epidermidis isolated from Clinical CasesObjective: To analyse the correlation between presence of atlE,fbe and ica locus, which involve in biofilm-forming,and phenotypic biofilm-forming ability in Staphylococcus epidermidis isolated from patients, then understand the relation and regulation between these genes , virulence and capacity of biofilm-forming, in order to present experimental data for control the drug-resistance resulting from Staphylococcus epidermidis biofilm. Methods: Collect non-repeated 50 Staphylococcus epidermidis isolated from different clinical specimens in clinical microorganism laboratory of Huaxi hospital Sichuan University from May to November 2004. Their adherence and biofilm-forming ability is test by cango red agar and 96-well flat-bottomed tissue culture plates assays;DNA is extracted respectively; The presence of specific genes are recorded after agarose electrophoresis following target DNA fragments is amplified by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) refer housekeeping gene 16S as positive control. Results are analysed by statistical methods to find out correlation between biofilm-forming and presence of these genes. Results: The atlE and fbe is widespread in clinic isolated strains of...
