The prosthesis with osseointegrated implant abutments requires new design principles and occlusion views. So a three—dimensional finite element method was employed in this thesis to investigate the states of mandibular complete denture supported by osseointegrated implants with varied design. Based on previous literatures and CT section scans, the finite element model of the edentulous mandible and its osseointegrated implant-supported prosthesis was partitioned into 2006 elements with 2890 nodes, which consist of three kinds of element—solid, beam and boundary elements. The main calculation results show in the following statements:(l)As compared with the traditional complete denture, the retention force increases greatly and occlusal force borne by alveolar ridge decreases in the osseointegrated implant—supported prosthesis.(2)When occlusal force was applied to the osseointegrated implant—supported prosthesis, the stress is strongly concentrated on the neck of the implant in the implant / bone interface, the thinnest part in the implant, the region connected with the implant in the denture base, and the loading point in the artificial teeth.(3)The stresses of implant/bone interface, implant abutment and denture base were lower in the implant—supported overdenture than in the...
