Study On Dong Zhongshu 's Spring And Autumn Annals

Dong Zhongshu is a famous philosopher,meanwhile he is also a scholar of Gongyangzhuan. His major work is Chunqiufanlu. Half the contents of his book is to discuss Gongyangzhuan. This essay attempts to explain Chunqiufanlu in the view of Gongyangzhuan.In the introduction of this essay, we talk about the biography of Dong Zhongshu and the main conflict of his times. The first chapter discusses the methodology of Dong Zhongshu’s sduty on Chunqiu. Dong Zhongshu indicates that the meaning of Chunqiu is manifested by "ci"(辞), we must understand all kinds of "ci"(辞),so that we can catch the meaning of Chunqiu. The second chapter is about the philosophical concept "tian"(天)which is the basis of Dong Zhongshu’s study of Chunqiu,because is the foundation of the value system. The third chapter discusses the "dayi"(大义) of Chunqiu."Dayi"(大义) provides different responsibilities for different persons. If all the persons fufill their responsibilities, the country will not fall into chaos. The fourth chapter discusses the restructuring theory. The purpose of Chunqiu is to establish an ideal political system. And the political system of Han Dynasty is from the Qin Dynasty. But in the Confucianist’s point, the Qin Dynasty is an illegal one, so the Han Dynasty must reform. The fifth chapter discusses the differences between Dong Zhongshu and He Xiu. We explain Dong Zhongshu’s doctrine from He Xiu’s point. Although their doctrines are roughly the same, we still need to talk about the differences between the two scholars.
