" Ink" has been considered the most unique and special Chinese culture and art of expression. Evolved with the times, the work focuses on the traditional method of ink inside our knowledge, seems to have been unable to express the requirements of modern society. With a thousand years of Chinese ink painting through the evolution and development of modern artists is technically difficult to surpass their predecessors, as Artist Huang Binhong said:"Don paintings as yeast, Song paintings as wine, Yuan paintings as alcohol, gradually add water after the era of Yuan. The more recent era, add more water, so insipid. " The contemporary ink painters were difficult to create artworks from traditional technique. Therefore, the absorption of contemporary artists from the part of Western painting and creation techniques, and even three-dimensional space and multimedia performance on the integration of Chinese ink painting elements, expanding a new look.As the political history and geographical history dictates, HongKong SAR was firstly developed the "ink evaluation" or so-called "contemporary ink" and then followed by the Taiwan region and mainland China. It was different from modern ink, such as Huang Xu Beihong, Lin Wu Guan and masters liked them. Hong Kong is the transcention of Modern and Contemporary Ink of China.This dissertation will briefly analyze the definition and evolution of traditional Chinese ink painting, the analysis focused on how to convert a modern contemporary ink’s outline and compare the Chinese Mainland, HongKong SAR Contemporary Ink Movement and the Taiwan region, hopes to sort out the development of three areas of Contemporary Chinese Ink, allowing for a clearer direction and development of Hong Kong Modern Ink, but also to respond to the world’s expectations of our culture. The dissertation will combined the sociology, historical and cultural context and Gestalt psychology and formalism analysis through the three Chinese Modern Ink artists:Mr. Luis Chan, Lui Shou kwan and Lui Kuo Sung with different social background and experiences in 1960-1980 who are exploring the possibilities of Chinese Ink in Hong Kong.
