From 634,i.e.the 8th year of Zhenguan period, in which year the Tsan-po Srongtsen Gampo dispatched an envoy to Tang dynasty, to 842, i.e. the 2nd year of Huichang, in which year the Tubo dynasty collapsed, there were more than 200 years of relationship between Tang and Tubo dynasty. During that period of time, envoys from two sides travelled constantly and frequently between these two areas, also with occasionally interruption. Envoys’activities ran through all that period of time and became a bond and also an air temperature indicator to show the foundation, development and transformation of Tang and Tubo relationship, so we can say that the envoys’mission story is a brief history of Tang and Tubo relationship. During that time, contacts among envoys had their particularity and led the direction of their relation at historical turning points. The envoys:constant ordinary envoys or ambassadors for special issues at special time, had kept the development of their friendship, by contacting with each other unblocked. Their activities showed also Tubo’s strategies of land expansions, which were intersected with political operational like marriage contracts and alliances etc.. The ordinary envoys activities maintained the relationship between Tang and Tubo an ensemble development and also kept their relationship in balance and stabile. And special envoys during a war could have relaxed their acute contradiction because of a war and envoys for meetings of sovereigns could have help to build a stable relationship on and on. For making marriages between the two regions they had build and kept their "Uncle-Nephew Relationship" between Tang and Tubo. During that period of time, their relationship developed and formed a situation that Tubo actively brought in culture from Tang and Tang passively exported culture to Tubo. Envoys’missions were dynamic in time and dimensional in space, i.e. their activities are in time and space intersected with each other. For that reason, the author tries to thoroughly gather, classify, and conclude all historical documents about the envoys at that time, and basing on this tries to explore its three-dimensional or its multi-dimensional stereoscopic structure about envoys’ dynamic condition, and present a historical image of the envoys at that time.In the first part of the article, documents are arranged and classified for showing the nature of envoys between Tang and Tubo and their missions, its comprehensive and individual peculiarity, and its inner discipline which was hidden in the relationship of Tang and Tubo at the same time. The second part of the article emphasizes on concluding and discussing special envoys missions, i.e. basing on the former discussion, concreted on their activities on peace negotiating, making peace border areas by marriage, and meetings of sovereigns, to show a dynamic stereoscopic structure for the envoys missions. These activities were also mixed with wars for fighting for resources and lands in different regions between Tang and Tubo, and showed three spatial patterns, i.e. firstly Tang and Tubo’s fighting in Tuyuhun area; secondly in Hehuang region, and Nanzhao area; and thirdly in Huanghe River area, the central Shaanxi plain and the Western Regions. The pictures of envoys’missions show clearly Tubo’s expansion at that period of time, their military games and political work, and showed an inside law in Tang-Tubo’s relationship. The third part discussed features and historical influences of envoys at that special time. There are several stages for their diplomatic missions and this is also the feature of their activities. Even during the time when they breaking off their friendship, special envoys still frequently contacted with each other and sent information. So their diplomatic missions inherited, maintained and continued the Uncle-Nephew relationship between Tang and Tubo at that time and formed a situation that Tubo actively introduce Tang’s culture and Tang passively exported culture to Tubo, and this promoted and continued the political, economical, military and cultural exchange between Tang and Tubo. The last part will clear up and discuss other related issues and several reflections on envoys’missions, some detaining accidents and the nature of this kind of phenomenon. With these four parts, the author tries to present an all-around envoys’missions between Tang and Tubo, and basing on this tries to explore the inherent law of Tang-Tubo relationship in depth.
