The alliance between Song and Jin over the sea was an important historical event in the first half of the twelfth Century. The alliance affected the evolution of East Asian political structure. But the research about the alliance between Song and Jin over the sea mainly concentrated in it’s process, content, evaluation, etc. There was few special discussion about the relationship between the alliance and East Asian political structure.This paper will discuss the changes in the political landscape of East Asia before the covenant was signed, at the time of signing the covenant and after the covenant was signed in "the history of the great Song" and "East Asian Community" as the angle of view. The political pattern of East Asia, which centers on the Liao Dynasty,was undergoing tremendous changes due to the challenge of Song and Jin before the alliance between Song and Jin over the sea was signed. The alliance between Song and Jin over the sea was the product of the failure which Song and Jin challenged the Liao Dynasty in the political and military status of East Asia. The contact between song and Jin and signed the alliance between Song and Jin over the sea enhanced the song and Jin anti Liao’s strength, changed the political and military strength contrast with Song, Jin and Liao, and to a certain extent the impact of the Western Xia regime and Koryo. Jin and Song Dynasty to the official attack of Liao Dynasty, further changed the political pattern of East Asia in 1122. The first change was the rise and failure of the separatist forces in Yanshan area. The second change was the transfer of the political centre of gravity of Khitan. The third change was establishment of vassal relations between Jin and the Western Xia regime, Jin and Koryo. The fourth change was establishment of Jin’s dominant position for Song in politics and military.Eventually, Jin overthrew the rule of Liao in East Asia, defeated the Song, compelled the Western Xia regime and Koryo to admit their vassal status, established the new order in East Asia which Jin was the center in politics and military. After the alliance between Song and Jin over the sea was signed, Jin established the new political pattern displayed in two aspects: territory of regime and relationship regime. Around the different political forces, the emphasis was also different. For Liao, Jin focused on the territory of regime. For the Western Xia regime and Koryo, Jin focused on the relationship regime. For Song, the emphasis changed with the change of relationshipbetween Song and Jin. Jin focused on the establishment of equal regime relationship with Song in the alliance period. But after the alliance fractured, one the one hand, Jin established unequal regime relationship with Song. On the other hand, Jin attached importance to the possession of the territory of Song. Compared to the new order in East Asia which Liao was the center in politics and military, in the new order in East Asia, Jin achieved higher international status in East Asia than Liao.The alliance between Song and Jin over the sea had a close relationship with the changes in the political landscape of East Asia in the first half of the twelfth Century.The alliance was affected by the changes in the political landscape of East Asia in the first half of the twelfth Century. And the alliance affected the evolution of East Asian political structure. The alliance became to one of the important factors that promoted the change of the situation.
