Research On Tourism Industrial Cluster Network And Innovation Performances

There exists also cluster phenomenon in tourism industry as an important part in the service sector. However, most of the previous studies on tourism industrial cluster make a reference to the theories of industrial cluster directly without considering particularities; lack of the studies on network characteristics, operation mechanisms and innovation performances of the tourism industrial cluster; use a single method and do little empirical research. In this research, focused on two research perspectives including network analysis and embeddedness analysis, and based on the theory of industrial cluster; network organization; and tourism innovation, an empirical research of Jianmen Shu Road tourism industrial cluster is made, and the dissertation tries to answer a key question:whether and how the network embedded characteristics influence the innovation of tourism industrial cluster?Draw lessons from SCP (structure-conduct-performance) analysis framework in industry economics, the dissertation emphasizes the network characteristics of tourism industrial cluster which determines the network behaviors then affects the innovation performances. Namely the network characteristics is the foundation of innovation performances in tourism, network behavior is the process mechanism in the cluster. Based on three times of field study of Jianmen Shu Road tourism industrial cluster, using stratified random sampling method, we got the sample data of110tourism enterprises finally, and select regression model to probe into how network embeddedness affects enterprise innovation performances. The findings of this research are mainly on the following aspects. Formal institutional embeddedness has significant and positive effects on innovation performances, but informal institutional embeddedness is disconfirmed. Structural embeddedness has significant and positive effects on enterprises’innovation performances; collective learning plays an intermediary role between them. A strong relationship in tourism enterprise network is conducive to improve the innovation performances; the reciprocal degree between enterprises; the duration of relationship and the abundance of relationship resources have significant and positive effects on innovation performances; and innovation diffusion plays an intermediary role between them. In the cognitive embeddedness, innovation has a positive relationship with innovation performances; entrepreneurship activity does as well, instead of an inverted U-shaped relationship; knowledge flow plays an intermediary role between corporate entrepreneurship and enterprises’innovation performance. These findings reveal the influence mechanism between network embeddedness characteristics and the enterprises’innovation performance further.The contributions of this research are mainly reflected in the following areas:Firstly, the innovation analysis is the bottleneck of the tourism industrial cluster research nowadays, this study combined top-down medium network measurement with bottom-up micro innovation performance evaluation, deepening the research on the innovation management of tourism industrial cluster to some extent. Secondly, researching on tourism industrial cluster innovation from the network embeddedness perspective is a new attempt, analyzing institutional, structural, relational and cognitive embeddedness, and their relationships with enterprises’ innovation performances, which extend theoretical studies of cluster network as well. Thirdly, through an empirical study of Jianmen Shu Road tourism industrial cluster, it partly overcomes some previous research defects like few empirical research, small sample size and poor universal conclusion. In addition, some valuable suggestions are put forward, such as cultivating the self-organizational development mode of tourist industry; optimizing the structure of the cluster network; expanding the cluster network relations; giving play to the role of core members; cultivating regional innovation culture and entrepreneurial spirit; strengthening the external links; enlarging cluster space boundary etc., which will be conducive to the development of tourism industrial cluster.
