Up to now, nine irrigation fields (including Baojixia, Jinghui, Jiaokou,~Taoqupo, shitouhe, Fenjiashan, yangmaowan, Luohuiqu and shibaochuan have been built in theGuanzhong prefecture of shaanxi province, which is the biggest source of grain, cotton and on inthe Shaanxi province and has, hence made a great contribution to the farming as well as tp theagricultural ecological environment. Among them, only Baojixia and Jiaokou were designed todraw water from Weihe River to meet the goal of irrigation.Since late 1970s, with the continuous deterioration of Weihe water body pollution it has beenpaid a wide-ranging attention that whether or not irrigation adopting Weihe River water would ~lead to agricultural ecosystem environmental pollution. In the same time the major area ofresearch and study~start to transit form the type of the point source pollution towards the model ofagricultural non-point source pollution. It is clear that the agricultural ecosystem environmental pollution has become one of the mainfactors that restrict the sustainabble development of agriculture and the sustainable utilization ofwater resource in the Guangzhong prefecture.Adopting the theory of ecology and the Method of irrigation works and agrology and so onrelating to the environmental pollution and protection, the paper mainly focuses on the study ofagricultural ecosystem in Baojixiz and Jiaokou irrgation fields. The main content covers:1. Monitoring/surveillance/survey and enaluation of Weihe river water qulity, irrigationwater quality, underground water quality and agricultural drainage water quality,2. The status of agricultural ecosystem environment, including soils, nutrient, chemicalfertilizer and pesticide~and their loses in agricultural soils;3 The status ofpollution crops, including wheat, maize and several kinds of vegetable;4.
