Molecule materials with active electrical, magnetic, and opticalphysical properties are at the focus of contemporary materials chemistryresearch. The reason for the interest that these materials can exhibitcooperative properties typically associated with the solid state materials. However, the three dimensional multilayer assembly is active andpromising in the chemistry of material and analytical chemistry fields. Thelayer-by-layer method on self-assembly can efficiently control thecomposite, structure and thickness of the film so that it exhibits potentialapplication in molecular and electronic devices, molecular modulation, optical and electronic catalysis in the future. Polyoxometalates are very versatile inorganic building blocks for theconstruction of founctional solid materials. Since the firstheteropolytungstates were discovered and characterized by C. Marignac in1864, polyoxometalates are intensively investigated and constitutes a large, distinct fundamental category of compounds, having high potential for thetheoretical contribution and for practical applications. For examples, since1970s, subsequent development in X-ray crystallographic hardware andsoftware and NMR, in combination with precise electrochemicalmeasurements and other surface analytical echnique, allows for rapidstructure characterization of polyoxometalates, and the number of knownstructure types has grown at least an order of magnitude. For this, a largerange of polyoxometalates is available for the design novel molecularmaterials with various functional properties. However, the exploration ofPOM-based multilayer films as functional materials has been rarelydemonstrated. Therefore, it will be of critical importance to successfullyincorporate the functional properties of POMs into the ultrathin material. Our attention in my Ph. D thesis focuses on the preparation POM based iiiordered LBL multilayer films and characterization by various techniques, and electrochemical behavior study of composite film modified electrode, which is important for practical application.
