Modern Wood Frame Construction Mode Application In China And Prospects

The unique ancient wood structure system was the mainstream form of Chinese ancientarchitecture. However, decreasing significantly with wood resources, wood structure whichwere constructed by logs were replaced by those which were constructed byferroconcrete,bricks and tiles. On the contrary, North America possessed abundant woodresources, with the development of new materials and new technologys, wood structure hasbeen developed a modern building system presenting structural safety, energy efficiency,environmental friendly, construction flexibility, and high technology. This system not onlymeets the current requirement of developing energy efficient and environmental friendlybuildings, but also extent the wood products potential market, and promote wood industry inChina.For the lack of independent design ability of wood structure in China, all the projects thosewhich are being constructed or had been constructed are totally copied exotics in spite of thelocal climate characteristics, people's living habits and aesthetic tastes. There are so manyproblems in the developing of modern wood structure in China. So the most importantemphases in this paper are that if the modern wood structure has a good development prospectin China and which application mode fits for Chinese national situation.This paper try to discuss and analysis if the modern wood structure has a gooddevelopment prospect in China from real estate market factor, economic factor, social andcultural factor, technologic factor and resource factor. And then try to find how people knowabout structural wood and modern wood structure with market research method in this question.Also, this paper discussed the application mode of modern wood structure in China, especiallyin design and application of glulam structure in China.In addition, this paper also discussed some other non-wood wood building materials whichcan be used in modern wood structure. Then we take a heat insulation test to a wood structuretest building which been constructed with new type complex wall from wheat straw. The resultshows that the heat insulation ability of the test building meets the heat insulation requirementsof Nanjing area. Finally I concluded the problems we are facing and countermeasures of theproblems.
