Wetland is a type of natural landscape, a special natural synthesis that is formed by the interplay of land and water. Wetland, together with forest and ocean, are the three global ecological systems. A wetland is a transitional area between the natural ecological systems of land and waters, an important part of the natural environment. A wetland has unique ecological structures and functions, and is also a natural ecological system and landscape type that is most influenced by human activities. The impact of ever-increasing human activities on the wetland environment has gradually attracted wetland scientists' attention in recent years, and construction of wetland parks to improve people's living standards and boom tourism has become a hot issue. As a unique ecological system, wetland parks have ecological functions and sightseeing values that common parks or green belts can not compare. It is a quite sensitive problem that the layout or construction of wetland parks is carried out on the natural ecological environment. At present, there is still a lack of systematic research in planning and designing of wetland parks. This article tries to combines wetland parks planning with ecological theories to explore practical approaches in wetland park layout. This paper is divided into three parts:The first part defines concepts and functions of wetland and wetland parks. With more focus on the latter, it analyses current domestic and foreign researches and construction achievements, points out existing problems and prospects in the planning and construction, and then explores directions for future development in wetland park layout and construction. The second part discusses in detail the ecological construction procedures and particular construction measures for wetland and wetland parks, from the aspect of natural resource protection and ecological environment protection, and under the guidance of ecological studies. It point out that synthetic plans of multi-discipline guided by ecological designing is a sustainable developing approach to wetland park construction. This part discusses methods of wetland park multi-purpose construction from the aspect of ecology, urban planning, and landscape planning. Besides, this part summarizes the planning procedures, contents, and evaluation of wetland parks.Through actual examples, the third part discusses from theory to practice the ecological restoration and landscape constructing method of wetland parks.1, Based on the ecological restoration project of Jinshan Lake Wetland Park(this project is a subordinate part of the "The National 863 Demonstration Engineering—Improvement of Zhenjiang water environment quality & research on and synthetic demonstration of ecological restoration techniques"), this part demonstrates and validates the original wetland surface pollution control and ecological restoration techniques, and provides technical guarantee and support for pollution control and ecological restoration in the latter-period construction of Jinshan Lake Wetland Park as well as an example for the improvement of water environment in other urban wetland parks. The research points out that although biological modulation is still a quite controversial issue and is uncertain to some extent, it is closely connected to biological restoration techniques and wetland landscape. Since it needs small investment, it is a suitable method in ecological restoration of wetland parks.2, Taking Dohu Lake Wetland Park in Ma An Shan as an example, this part discusses aesthetic, refreshment, and science popularization functions of wetland parks from the aspects of function division, protection planning, traffic system, vegetation planning, accessory facilities and cultural interest. It points out that in the planning of wetland parks, the ecological environment of the wetland itself should be fully recognized and the natural factors be utmost exploited, thus by making good use of natural potentials, unreasonable designs forced on nature can be reduced to as much as possible. It is a process of respect, understanding and restoration of natural wetland under the guidance of ecological principles. Finally, the paper draws some major conclusions and puts forward some proposals and advice concerned with the healthy development of wetland parks in our country.
