| A MADS box gene AGL20/SOC1is a main integrator in Arabidopsis flowering pathway whose structure and function are highly conserved in many plant species. A soybean MADS box gene GmGAL1(Glycine max AGAMOUS Like1) as a homolog of AGL20/SOC1,was cloned from soybean cultivar Kennong18and its function was investigated in transgenic Arabidopsis lines. Sequence comparisons showed that the closest gene to GmGAL1is AGL20/SOC1in Arabidopsis and SOC1homolog in Vigna unguiculata. We investigated the expression of GmGAL1using quantitative real-time PCR, and the result showed that GmGAL1was regulated by a circadian mechanism and its expression oscillated at a cycle of24h. The expression level of GmGAL1was fluctuated in diverse tissue/organ and developmental stage. Considering its expression can be detected in different tissues throughout the life cycle and its protein localizes both in nucleus and cytomembrane of onion epidermal cells, we proposed that GmGAL1may be a multifunctional gene in the context of the soybean development. Ectopic expression of GmGAL1in Arabidopsis enhanced flowering under long-day conditions and partially rescued socl late flowering type.20drought treatment induction genes in rice (Oryza sativa, Nipponbare) were found according to Affimatrix expression gene chips which were published on line. Some of these genes expressed higher when were treated with20%PEG6000. The putitative promoters of these genes were cloned and transformed into rice. |
