Objective: To probe into the protective action and its mechanism of the method of BuGanShengYiQiXue on the model rats of radiation damage .Methods: In this experiment, the rats were divided into five groups of blankcontrast, pathological models, high dosage, low dosage and medication contrast. The group of BuGanShengYiQiXue were given BuGanShengYiQiXue Compound. The group of medication contrast were given FuFangAJiaoJiang, and the others were given physiological brine. Ten days later, the rats were irridiated by 60CO Y . Then peripheral blood routine examination, quantity of nucleocyte in bone marrow, variability of series of cells, expression of p53, p21WAFI, caspase-3, CD34 in bone marrow, cellular cycle and apoptosis of nucleocyte in bone marrow, activity of SOD and GSH-PX in peripheral blood, partial immune function, content of cAMP in plasm and bone marrow were observed.Results:(1) The quantities of erythrocyte of hyperplasia and myelocyte in bone marrow was increased obviously by the method of BuGanShengYiQiXue. Thegrowth of lymphocyte was stimulated. Cellular degeneration and pathological damage was decreased. The enginery of building blood in bone marrow was promoted. (2) The quantities of WBC and reticulocyte were increased. Hb were improved obviously. The trend of descending of blood platelet were retarded to some extent . (3) The period of S of nucleocyte in bone marrow was prolonged and G2 was blocked. The sudden change of gene of p53 were restrained . The express of p21' were improved. The expression of caspase-3 and the apoptosis were decreased obviously. The damage of microvillus in bone marrow was alleviated. (4) Activity of SOD and GSH ?PX in peripheral blood was increased. The weight of thymus and spleen were increased obviously. The content of cAMP in plasm and bone marrow was increased.Conclusion: The protective action of BuGanShengYiQiXue on the modelrats of radiation damage is obvious. Its working mechanism is that it can promote the recovery of the cells of building blood in bone marrow which were damaged and the improvement of the submicroscopic environment for building blood.
