| Chinese crud drug "zexie", Alismatis Rhizoma, is the rhizoma of Alisma oriental (Sam) Juzep., distributed in the SiChuan Province and FuHan Province . It has been used as an important component of several prepariation and is believed to have a diuretic action. Old literatures stated that the crud drug was remedy for diabetes and swelling.In recent study .it was recognized that the component of potostane and guaiane not only showed an insignificant hypocholesterolemic action in rats and a lipotropic action . it also was founded with anti GBH nephritis and ICnephritis action .The present paper concerned the isolation of hypocholesetrolemic substances and its finger print of HPLC. and a review on the characters of NMR spectra for potostane and guaiane .the EtOAc traction showed hypocholeserolemic action , so it was subjected to silica gel column chromatograph and silica gel thin-layer chromatograph and HPLC affording 21 compound . the new compound were guaia-6. 7en-5, 10diol(1S. 5S. 14 α methLl5 β methyl) (compound10), guaia-6.7en-4,10diol(1R, 5S, 14 β methyl. 15 a methyl) (compound 11), 11 anhydro-alisol F (compond 13), 11 anhydro - 24acetate-alisol F (compound 12) .10- O-ethyl - alismoxide (compound 16). others were alisolA(compound 17), alisol A 24-acetate(compound 5). alisol F(compound 9). alisol F 24-acetate(compound 7).alisol E 23-acetate(compound 18), 25anhydro-alisol A(compound 15). alismol(compound 3), alismoxidecompound 8), oriental Cfcompound 6). ethalic (compound 1). β-sitosterol (compound 2) . falcalindiol(compound 21), isoimperatorin(compound 19). seselin(compound 20). guaia- 7, 10 epoxide - 6. 4 diol( compound 14). guaia- 7,10epoxide -6.4diol (compound 14). and the compound 19, 21, 14. 5, 4 were get from Alisma oriental (Sam) Juzep. for the first time.
