Acupuncture Combined With Treatment Of Early Rheumatoid Arthritis Randomized Controlled Clinical Study

Objective To verify the efficacy of acupuncture-moxibustion combined medicine treatment for early rheumatoid arthritis by comparing the effectiveness of medicine treatment and acupuncture-moxibustion combined medicine treatment Methods A single-blind, andomized controlled trail was done. 128 patients (120 completed and 8 missing or deciling ) in three hospitals were randomized into a control group treated with Methotrexate, Meloxicam and Total Glucosides of Paeony and a teartment group treated by acupuncture-moxibustion and medcine. Symptoms and signs, ESR, RF, horizontal virtical assessment scale (VAS(10 cm)), health assessment questionnaire(HAQ) were applied to evaluate the effectiveness in 12 weeks. Results The results suggest that there were statistical differences between the two groups. Compared with the control group, it taked less time to take effect in the teartment group. The efficictiveness in teartment group were better, which embodied in improvement in pain and function of jionts, controlling the development of desease and improvement in life quality. Also the treatment group showed a good long-term efficacy in symptoms and signs, function of joints and life quality. Conclusion Efficiency of acupuncture-moxibustion combined medicine treatment for early rheumatoid arthritis was verified expicitily, which is better than medicine treatment.
