In view of the fact that importance of the standardization on the symptoms of Chinese Medicine and the problems of this ascept,such as quantification on multidimensional symptoms, this study will develop Fatigue Self-Assessment Scale to quantify the fatigue by psychology surveying research technique. The purpose of this study is that providing tool on evaluating fatigue and intervention measure effect, and provides new pattern of the methodology for the standardization research on symptoms of Chinese Medicine.This paper includes theoretical study, the development of Fatigue Self-Assessment Scale and the application of Fatigue Self-Assessment Scale.1 Theoretical study1.1 The contents and measure of the standardization on the symptoms of Chinese Medicine The standardization on the symptoms of Chinese Medicine includes the standardization of terms and meaning of symptoms, the quantity measure for symptoms and quantified the connection between symptoms and Chinese Medicine syndromes.At present, publication of teaching material programmed by country, establishment of criterion of nation and vocation, the specialized research in terms and meaning of symptoms provides good ways for the standardization on terms and meaning of symptoms. Some the principles and measure of statistics is applied in the studies of quantity measure for symptoms and quantified the connection between symptoms and Chinese Medicine syndromes.But there are some problems existed in these study on the standardization of the symptoms of Chinese Medicine, for example, unified criterion for assessing the same symptom is used in different studies. In addition, there isn't good measure to quantify the multidimensional symptoms. 1.2 psychological survey theory and application in the standardization on the symptoms of Chinese MedicineIn this part, the concept of psychological survey, the concept of scales,methods of establishment ofscales and concept of reliability and validity are explained. It is pointed that scales are used as a kind of tool to assess multidimensional symptoms. Scale is a king of tool used to observe some psychological character and behavior by a means of numeral. It has several traits that include numeralization, standardization, particularization and objectivity. Its form of numeral is a better variable form on study and its expression of study finds is scientific means.Its multidimensional structure can reflect multidimensionality of object that will be measured. The definition of scales'items and the criterion of grade can avoid shortcoming that different understand of different doctors bring different results of assessment for the same symptom.And this is of advantage to get a common understand for the same symptom and to have the same findings for studing the same object in several studies.So scales can provide a good tool for valuing some multidimensional symptoms in clinic.1.3 Concept and evaluation of fatigueIn this paper, the concept of fatigue is defined by reviewing description of fatigue in dictionary, ancient literature of Chinese Medicine, modern literature and some scales for assessing fatigue that are used commonly in foreign countries.
