Abstract/Summary:
Compound prescription consisted of Chinese herbs embodies the concept of wholism specifically in clinical practicing. In accordance with the rule of "sovereign drug, minister drug, adjuvant drug, courier drug", the compound prescription is made up of a combination of appropriate herbs with exact amount after the therapeutic method is determined according to the cause of the disease. And the effective ingredients will work on different parts of the human body in order to regulate the integral functions. The key points of compound prescription include material base, mechanism, and rules of combination, which are acknowledged by the academic circles, and also hot and difficult points in the research of Chinese medicine fundamental theories. Therefore, we put forward a hypothesis that the compound prescription consisted of Chinese herbs works through the synthesis of multi-target effects. The compound prescription regulates the human body in various aspects by using relevant effective ingredients, which act directly or indirectly on the molecules in the human body. This regulating function is an interconnected and mutually restricted synthesis formed from different levels and it is the so-called synthesis of multi-target effects, which widely exists inside nucleus, cells; between cells and tissues or between tissues and tissues. The effect is integrated according to "molecule-cell-whole", which eventually makes the compound prescription provide a therapeutic effect for the entire human body. And the effect is basic for Chinese herbs to serve to maintain the regular physical function and bring the occurrence of diseases under control. It is one of the basic rules of the way that the compound prescription consisted of Chinese herbs works, and it is also an essential distinction between the way a single herb works and the way a compound prescription works. It is demonstrated by abundant research having been done that atherosclerosis (As) is the pathological basis for cardiovascular diseases and cerebrovascular diseases. However cholesterol plays a vital role in occurrence and development of As. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that the occurrence of hypercholesterolemia has something to with improper diet (exogenous etiologic factor) and the impairment of the function of internal organs such as liver, spleen and kidney (endogenous etiologic factor) , which results in the formation of fat and dysfunction of metabolism. In accordance with the therapeutic principles such as tonifying liver and kidney, promoting digestion and removing phlegm promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis and purging and eliminating damp, the widely used ready-made Chinese medicine called Jiang zhi Ning, which...
