To identify the risk factors and study bacteriology of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in the elderly for prevention pneumonia in older patients.Methods A prospective case-control study which included all patients over 60 years of age admitted to our hospital with and without CAP was carried out over a period of Jan.2003-Jun.2004. They were classified the 2 groups that community-acquired pneumonia in elderly patients admitted to hospital were studied by a control subjects matched for sex, age and the date of admission admitted to other departments.
