Colorectal cancer is the third most malignant tumor in our country. Although the biological behavior and the prognoses of colorectal cancer is better than that of other tumors, 5-year survival rate is still 40%~60%. Accurate staging and eligible adjuvant therapy on the basis of chnicopathologic factors are the key point to improve the prognoses of colorectal cancer. In order to investigate the influence of clinicopatholigic factors, especially number of lymph node retrieved, on prognoses of colorectal cancer. The clinical data of 390 patients, who were admitted in the Cancer Hospital of CAMS for colorectal cancer and received a radical operation during 1997-1998, were retrospectively reviewed. Total 3, 5-year survival were 62.9% and 60.2% respectively, median survival time was 66.2 months. 3, 5-year survival were 64.1%, 62.5% of colon cancer and 61.7%, 59.3% of rectal cancer. Histologic grading, depth of invading, pathological type, staging and recovered lymph node number are the independent prognostic factors of colorectal cancer. Recovered lymph node number of 373 Dukes B and C colorectal caner patients is 13.71±9.38, the maximum number is 40 whereas the minimum number is 0. The 5-year survival of fewer lymph node retrieved(0-10) is 60.4%, which...
