Dysmenorrhea is a disease for women. When menstruation comes, Dysmenorrhea patients experience pain in the abdomen. Acupuncture and moxibustion is a valid method to cure Dysmenorrhea.We just summed up ancient and modern literature about curing symptoms of Dysmenorrhea. And we summarized ancient and modern principles of using points to cure Dysmenorrhea, and the law of combining points. We discriminated the differences between ancient and modern thought of dialectic analysis and distinctions on choosing characteristic points. We analysed the causes of these differences. Through studying the principle of using points and the law of choosing points, we summarized the main points and the combining points which were used during the therapic process of acupuncture and moxibustion. We recommend a standard solution to cure Dysmenorrhea.We researched ancient acupuncture 205 documents from Qin /Han dynasties to Ming /Qing dynasties. Modern literature 232 papers get from Chinese acupuncture magazines published in China and edited papers from 1949 to 2006．We also researched Chinese acupuncture teaching material and well-known books by well-known acupuncturists.We then put them in order and summarized the principles of using points, the law of combining points, and high frequency of used points. We also summarized ancient and modern prescriptions overhead about curing Dysmenorrhea, principles and law of combining points.Through analyzing and studying ancient and modern prescriptions we discussed the dialectical analysis and the law of combining points in developing a direction for an appropriate therapy in acupuncture and moxibustion. And we discussed the composition of the recipes and we summarized the high-frequency recipe in acupuncture and moxibustion to cure Dysmenorrhea.The conclusion is that common ancient points are SP6, RN4, RN3, SP10, RN6, LI4 and BL23．Common prescription is SP6, RN4, RN6 and LI4．Common prescription of single point is SP6．Common prescription of dual points are SP6 and LI4．The conclusion is that common modern points are SP6, RN4, RN3, RN6, ST36, BL32 and BL23．Common modern prescription is SP6,RN4, SP8, RN3 and BL32．Most of these points belong to the Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang,the Ren Meridian,the Spleen Meridian of Foot-Taiyin and the Kidney Meridian of Foot-Shaoyin.
