Objective:A. To explore systematically in depth the origin and the meaning, historical development, and clinical application, in order to propose the doctrine of Axis Meridians.B. To clarify the mechanism of delaying senility by massage on the Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian by the doctrine of Axis Meridians.C. To observe the clinical efficacy of prevention and treatment in children recurrent respiratory tract infection treated by scraping on Axis Meridians, and study its clinical application value.D. To observe the curative effect of Massage on Axis Meridians in Sub-healthy people with somatic pain, in order to get scientific proof on application of preventive treatment by Massage on Axis Meridians.Methods:A. Theoretic research:It has mainly adopted the methods to combine historical data and documentation.B. Experimental study:32 SD rats of general level with 12 weeks old, male and female in half,220±20g in weight are randomly divided into blank control group, aging model group, massage group and moxibustion group of 8 rats in each group. Expect the blank control group, subacute aging rats model was made by using D-galactose subcutaneous injected on the neck and back area everyday. At the same time of making model, GB30, GB34, and the area between these two points in both sides of rates was massaged by using self-making massage stick in the massage group and smoked by using self-making cigarette-type moxa in moxibustion group respectively. Rates in the blank control group and aging model group were also undertaken the grabbing and fixation process without any massage and moxibustion treatment. After twelve weeks experiments, appearance and weight of rates in each group were observed and compared with 12 weeks before; the rat thymus and spleens were removed and organic indexes were calculated; thymus histopathology was observed by using HE staining under light microscopy and apoptosis of thymocytes was detected; The content of MDA in serum and thymus tissue was detected by using TBAR; and the content of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in serum and thymus and NO in the thymus were detected by using Nitrate reductase.C. Clinical researches:100 cases meeting the inclusion criteria with recurrent respiratory tract infection in remission period were randomly divided into two groups:the treatment group with scraping on axis meridians and the control group with pseudo-scraping in non-point area, Intervention of both group was 10 minutes each time, once every three days and a course of treatment 30 days. The general situation (appetite, complexion, body type), onset frequency, duration and disease type were observed while the index of serum immune globulin (IgG, IgA, IgM) and T lymphocyte subsets (CD3, CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8) were tested before and after intervention in patients. 540 volunteers meeting the criteria of Sub-healthy people with somatic pain were randomly divided into two groups:the Treatment Group with Massage on Axis Meridians and the Reference Group with relaxation by lying down. Intervention of both Groups is 45minutes each time, twice a week and a course of treatment 3 weeks. The score was observed in McGill pain questionnaire score and the World Health Organization Quality of Life BREF score, and detected CR in cervical vertebra, lumbar vertebra or joints as safety indicators before and after intervention.Results:A. Theoretic research:1. The origin and development of doctrine of axis meridians:It originated from the theory of Kai-he in Huangdi's Internal Classics, which initially formed the frame of axis meridians. Doctrine of axis meridians was greatly enriched and developed in Treatise on Cold-induced Disease that basic on meridian and organs and formed Six-meridian syndrome differentiation. The latter doctors had been continually improving and modifying the composition and distribution, physiological functions and pathological changes, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and treatment of axis meridians in the angle of meridians and Zang-fu organs, therefore, formed the "Doctrine of axis meridians".2. The theoretic content of doctrine of axis meridians2.1 Physiological function:The main function of axis meridians is to dominate Qi, which specifically manifests to transfer Qi of exterior-interior and Yin-Yang and regulate Qi of Zang-fu organs. Axis meridians also have functions of lifting Yang Qi, distributing ministerial fire, warming benefiting, soothing tendons and unblocking joints, as well as transferring Qi regulating Water to San Jiao.2.2 Pathological features:The pathological feature of disturbance of Qi movement in Shao Yang meridian is stagnation of Qi movement, which is decided by pathological transfer features of Shao Yang and Shao Yin. The pathological feature of disturbance of Qi movement in Shao yin meridian is Yin-Yang disharmony.2.3 Disease in axis meridians:Such diseases include extensively in the score of internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, as well as for prevention.2.4 Theory of Axis meridians therapy:The principle is to regulate Qi.3. The clinic application of doctrine of axis meridians:The ancient doctors treated diseases using axis meridians, mainly selecting the points of Hand-Foot Shao Yang and Shao Yin meridians, as well as five SHU points. Herbs application in disease in axis meridians are characterized as making Qi regulation and reinforcing Qi, which are including Cassia Seed, Apricot kernel, Peony, Radix, Poria, Ginseng, Scrophulariaceae, Monkshood, Shegan etc.Representative prescriptions for treating diseases in axis meridians are including Xiao Chaihu Decoction, Da Chaihu Decoction, Coptis Decoction, spleen-cleaning Decoction, Xiaoyao Power, Sini Power, Pinellia Sanji Decoction, Xiao Qinglong Decoction, Zhuling Decoction, Chonghe Ointment, Mahuang Sixin Fuzi Decoction, Sini Decoction, Fuzi Decoction, etc.B. experimental research:1. Capacity for action of subacute aging rats could be improved by massage on the foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, and the aging process was effectively delayed.2. Atrophy of thymus and spleen in the process of aging could be effectively palliated by massage on the foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and the apoptosis rate of thymocytes could be decreased.3. Content of MDA in serum and thymus tissue and NO in thymus could be significantly decreased by massage on the foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, while the content of SOD in serum and thymus tissue could be increased, and the content of SOD in massage group was obviously higher than the moxibustion group.C. Clinical researches1. The Clinical Research on Prevention and Treatment of Children Recurrent Respiratory Tract Infection by Scraping on Axis Meridians Therapy1.1. Total effective rate in treatment group was superior to the control group.1.2. The efficacy of treatment group in reducing the frequency and duration of upper respiratory tract infection was better than the control group. However, the number of lower respiratory tract infection in two groups showed that there was not significant different.1.3. Compared with the control group, the indexes of serum immune globulin (IgG, IgA,) and T cell subsets (CD3, CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8) in treatment group were significantly improved while the index of serum immune globulin (IgM) was no significant difference after intervention.2. Study on Effect of Massage on Axis Meridians in Sub-healthy people with somatic pain2.1.McGill Pain Questionnaire:Treatment Group was statistically significant (P<0.05) than Reference Group in all respects-evaluation index of feeling, emotion, evaluation, others, pain assessment and existing pain intensity index. The result suggested that Massage on Axis Meridians significantly improve pain index of Sub-healthy people with somatic pain.2.2 World Health Organization Quality of Life BREF score (WHOQOL-BREF):It was statistically significant between two Groups in the score difference on quality of life subjective feeling, health status subjective feeling, physiological and psychological aspects (P<0.05); but it was not statistically significant in the score difference on the social aspect, environmental factor and quality of life (P> 0.05).2.3 Safety Analysis:During the entire course of treatment, there was no adverse effect in both Groups, which suggested Massage on Axis Meridians was very safe to treat Sub-healthy people with somatic pain.Conclusions:A. With distinguished content and wide application, axis meridians have been formed self-contained academic point of view, which called the doctrine of axis meridians.B. The frame of doctrine of axis meridians was formed in the period of time of Huangdi's Internal Classics, enriched and improved in the period of time of Treatise on Cold-induced Disease, moreover, its content have been applied by later doctors intensively.C. Doctrine of axis meridians has unique theoretic contents and broad prospects for application.D. It is proved that massage on the foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian is an effective Traditional Chinese Medicine method in delaying senility, which mechanism is related to the content decreasing of MDA and NO and content increasing of SOD.E. The efficacy of scraping on Axis meridians is superior to pseudo-scraping for reducing the frequency and duration of upper respiratory tract infection, elevating immune globulin and T cell subsets.F. The Massage on Axis Meridians is better than relaxation in the treatment of Sub-healthy people with somatic pain, both in improving the pain index and quality of life, yet with no adverse effects.
