About Shame

Moral sense of shame is an ideology of civilization that can tell human beings and animals apart, and also be the early-warning mechanism which can make socierty functions well. Moral sense of shame is a kind of inner spiritual activities and moral constaint force, which is based on existent and negative value. It is basic emotional composition and essential realization and over will put oneself to another's position of human beings, which is treated as "the summation of all the social relations" and "class object". Besides, moral sense of shame tells human and animals apart, and is bottommost ethics that human beings can be themselves, and even impetus of human society, which has a long history.This doctoral dissertation will reveal the essence and value of moral sense of shame from psychology and society this two aspects. Fistly, moral sense of shame is transcendental and natural endowment owned by both essence of existence and life of human beings, and moral sense of shame creates life-oriented of human beings and builds moral power connected with the circulation system of all the universe, and also based on "public reason" and "overlapping consensus" in the perspective of historical materialism, reflecting basic moral appeals of modern society. Secondly, intrinsic system of moral sense of shame suffers a huge shock resulting in a unstable system in the period of society transformation, and it's hard to build a new and perfect system. With a background of a lack of moral sense of shame, individual behaviour is filled with uncertainty, meanwhile, group behaviour is lack of the guidance of morality. And social public behaviour stays a state of disharmony. Taking off original coat of morality, the core of moral sense of shame has been endangered when facing gnawing as a silkworm or swallowing as a whale of industrial civilization and post-industrial civilization. Confronting with the realistic dilemma of moral sense of shame, this dissertation starts with the explanation and creation and psycological mechanism of shame. Ascertaining desirable tendencies of self-management and heteronomous management of moral sense of shame, and from substantial base, cognitive structure, emotional behaviour and volitional action this three aspects to evaluate contemporary moral sense of shame, trying to reveal unmature and disordered structure of moral sense of shame and inner and outer factors that, nowadays, because of separation of moral sense of shame and tradition, culture and real life, it brings about behaviours of human beings always break the basic rules. Therefore, the reconstruction of moral sense of shame must win through utility of moral sense of shame, globalization of moral sense of shame, virtualization of moral sense of shame, and intelligence of moral sense of shame. This dissertation is trying to build a machanism of ethic and system, and construct system of content, function, guarantee and of moral sense of shame with socialism with Chinese characteristics, to realise the force of moral sense of shame goes from strength to strength, and revive culture of moral sense of shame, and also provide construction of socialist concept of honour disgrace with suggestions.
