A Study Of The Daoist Aesthetic Thought In Sui, Tang And Five Dynasties

This thesis discusses the Daoist aesthetic thought in Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties, and finds that Daoist aesthetic thought and aesthetic culture came to maturity during the period on the basis of preparation in Weijin &Northern and Southern Dynasties.There are some features ,such as abundant thoughts, numerous scholars,and extensive problems which involve essence of beauty, aesthetic sense, aesthetic attitude.dialectical aesthetic view, aesthetic personality, envionmental aesthetics,and aesthetic education,etc. Meanwhile, since the flourish of the Daoism in Tang Danasry,the Daoist aesthetic thought and aesthetic taste strongly influenced the prevalent aesthetic culture, which led to the theoretical promotion of the Daoist aesthetic thought in Song Danasty.The study of the Daoist aesthetic thought is an intersection of the Daoist study and the classical aesthetics study,which will broaden the realm of them and enlighten aesthetic education in real life.Under the background of globlization,the study of traditional culture and classical aesthetic thought also has some important significance,especially,it provides a possibility for the exchange between Chinese and Western Religious Aesthetics on the basis of equality.The thesis includes three parts.Firstly,in Sui and Early Tang Dynasties,the Daoist aesthetic thought took in various aesthetic views of Chinese and foreign culture,which deepened the aesthetic theory ;Secondly,in Flourishing Tang Dynasty,many Daoist scholars came up who put forward valuable viewpoints from various aspects,which brought the flourish of the Daoist aesthetic thought and aesthetic culture.Thirdly,in Late Tang and Five Dynasties,some Daoist scholarssummed up the aesthetic thought during the period.The Daoist aesthetic thought reflects prototypes of Chinese culture and Chinese Aesthetics.It is rooted in Lao-Zhuang's aesthetic thoughts and takes in other aesthetic ideas .This study is helpful to explore the roots of Chinese aesthetic thought and carry forward traditional Chinese culture.And the study is "intersectant".It is not only the intersection of Daoism and aesthetics,but also philosophical abstraction and aesthetic images thinking. Meanwile,it is the intersection of Daoist aesthetics and other religious aesthetics in the world,which shows the characteristics of "synchronie" and "diachronie".Some Daoist scholars discussed in the thesis has never been studied ,which will instructively complement the study of Daoism and Chinese Aesthetics.To conclude,a carefully worked-out,in-depth analysis about the Daoist aesthetic thought .especially from the angle of history, has never been done in academic circles.This thesis will try to fill the vacancy and show the panorama of the Daoist aesthetic thought in Sui,Tang and Five Danasties.
