It is undeniable that modern academic circle has made great achievement in the study of modern Chinese literary theory, but it leaves much to be desired. As a whole, the research of modern Chinese literary theory can fall into the following six models: firstly, the study deals in detail with the generation and development of modern Chinese literary theory such as The History of Modern Chinese Literary Theory (1895-1990) edited by Huang Manjun; secondly, the study focuses on the writings of modern thinkers of literary theory with The History of Modern Chinese Literary Criticism by Wen Rumin as representative work; thirdly, the research is concerned about comparative poetics as system and category with Influence Study of Chinese and Western Poetics, the third part of The System of Chinese and Western Comparative Poetics edited by Huang Yaomian and TongQingbing as representative work; fourthly, it deals with discourse analysis mode with Modern Chinese Poetics Discourse (1917-1937) written by Xiang Tianyuan, as representative work; fifthly, it is about the modern transformation of Chinese literary theory with Ruputureand Continuity----Review of Modern Transformation of Ancient ChineseLiterary Theory writ ten by Dai Xun . as representative work; and finallyit analyses the modernity and postmodernity with Revolution Aesthetics Deconstruction----the Modernity and Postmodernity of 20th CenturyChinese Literary Theory by Yu Hong. With their own uniqueness and achievement, each of these studies has the same shortcoming, that is, the researchers study only in theory, but they did not do in-depth analysis of internal shaping mechanism of the discourse of modern Chinese literary theory. This can be specifically seen in the following aspects: firstly, their research chiefly focuses on the description and analysis of contents of modern Chinese literary theory, the literary ideas and values of the important theorists and trends as well as the relations between Chinese and Western literary theories, but does not do comprehensive and profound research on the inheritance and new interpretation under the specific historical cultural context in the course of modern transformation of Chinese literary theory; secondly, it also does not pay attention to two-way transformation of the subject of the discourse in the modern transformation, thus ignores the role of the man' s living mode in the generation of the discourse of modern Chinese literary under specific context. To make breakthrough in such kind of research, I attach special importance to the dynamic and historical nature of modern Chinese literary theory. Specifically speaking, dynamics requires all factors and their changing influences in different historical periods be taken into account, and historical nature requires they be studied under specific historical context. In other words, the thesis attempts to find a way to the inherent mechanism of modern Chinese literary theory through the modern reconstruction of context of modern Chinese literary theory. The emergence of any literary discourse is closely related to its political, economical and cultural background, so does the discourse ofmodern literary theory. However, Chinese modernity must have its unique characteristics besides its global nature in the course of cultural exchanges. It is characterized by two-way "foreignising nature" . So, one can see, the title "Identity and Decentralization" deals with the specific fields and its focus of the thesis. Here, "identity" means two things: the establishment of one' s identity and borrowing from the West. The first emphasizes the decentralization to the West due to Chinese traditional cultural spirit when learning from the West, whereas the other decentralization stresses to cultural tradition during the modern transformation of Chinese literary discourse. Therefore,"identity and decentralization" in nature is the double paradox in the course of developing modern Chinese literary discourse, it happens to be its key point of modern Chinese litera...
