How to make good use of Tibet's advantages in geography, predestined relation in population and resources to extend South Asian Markets and to promote economic and social development faster in Tibet is a issue worth deeply and systematically study. Besides, Tibet opening the South Asian Markets has its own speciality that differs from common sense of extension international markets. It is not only a issue of economic and trade, but also a political issue concerning the stability of society in Tibet. And what is more, in frontier areas, it is a strategy issue concerning the safety of border guard. Therefore, it has absolutely necessary to do thorough research on the special issues that lies in Tibet opening the South Asian Markets. But so far, the academic circle hasn't paid enough attention to this subject. So that, the author has chosen the subject not only for the sake of the concern on the issue and hope to promote the recognition and research on the relevant issues, but also with the hope to recognize and think about interrelationship among the Tibet's opening up, development and stability better through an originalperspective. Accordingly, on the base of description and analysis on the development condition of economic trade communication between Tibet and South Asian areas, the author specially focused on the discussion on the following topics: The necessity and special significance for Tibet to opening the South Asian Markets, the opportunities and advantages formed by the international and periphery environment, the special issues with the opening the South Asian Markets to Tibet and the operative measure, the outlook of the future.The whole article is divided into 6 chapters aside from the introduction and the conclusion. It develops gradually in 4 parts: The history and current situation of economic trade communication between Tibet and South Asian areas. The condition and environment of extension South Asian Markets. The special issues and trade channel construction issue that facing by us. And the outlook of the future of opening South Asian Market to Tibet.In the author's opinion, there were two major trade passages between Tibet and South Asian areas in the ancient times. One was from Ali to India and Kashmir. The other led to Nepal and then into India. In addition, a lot of local natural trade passages had been formed to facilitate the economic trade intercourse between Tibet and South Asian areas. In this way, up to the times of Emperor Gampo, communication and trade intercourse had occurred frequently between Gampo dynasty and India, Nepal and other South Asian areas. From 17th century, such economic trade exchange became more frequent. In ancient times, the trade between Tibet and South Asian neighbor nations was equal and peaceful. Though the amount of trade was not large, such trade not only carried out its economic function of goods exchange, but also promoted cultural broadcast and communication with each other as a carrier. It reflected the speciality of the trade communication between Tibet and South Asian neighbor nations in ancient times.In recent and modern times, the character of such trade had changed. Trade had become into a tool for British Indian colonist to invade and spoliate Tibet. The invasion and anti-invasion became the special content through the trade relationship between Tibet and South Asian areas. Tibet became the market of industrial products from British and Indian. At the same time, Tibet had formed the trade links with British and Indian markets, and Tibetan economy also had changed under such affection.In the early days of Tibet peaceful liberation, the trade communication between Tibet and South Asian nations continue growth. After 1962, the trade link between Tibet and India had been interrupted and the trade between Tibet and Nepal keeps through Zhang Mu Port.
