Being one of the most famous poets in Song Dynast, Huang Tingjian enjoyed a sterling reputation as equal as Su Shi did, they both were called as "Su & Huang". The works of Huang Tingjian's poetry typically reflected various characteristics of Song's Poems, and he himself has being historically regarded as a master of Song poetry.Led by Huang Tingjian, the Jiangxi Poetry Sect, on the one hand, is one of the most influential and the longest lasted poem schools in Chinese poetry history; on the other, it is among the few schools that have received the fiercest criticism from scholars. No other poet or poetry sect has ever got so much attention and so many different arguments than Huang Tingjian or the Jiangxi Sect has. Therefore, it is quite necessary to systematically and comprehensively examine and study this Sect.Although beginning from last century, a big progress has been made in the study of Huang Tingjian and the Jiangxi Poetry Sect, the research is still far from being adequate in terms of studying on the Sect's spread and its influence to later generations, on each dynasty's printing and publishing of Jiangxi Poetry Sect's poems and the writing of those relevant poets' chronological lives, on quality evaluations on Tang and Song poems, and on the up-and-downs of Jiangxi Poetry Sect's influence etc, let alone to say some of these topics have never been touched yet. The aim of this paper is to try to fill up some of these blanks. This paper contains four major aspects: i) the spread and evaluation of Huang Tingjian's poetry in early stages, and the establishment of the Jiangxi Poetry Sect, ii) From Southern Song Dynasty up to now, the writing and compiling of Huang Tingjian and other Jiangxi Sect's poets' works, these works' sorting, annotating, printing/publishing, and documents (including relevant poets chronological lives) making, iii) Jiangxi Poetry Sect's spread and influence since Southern Song Dynasty, iv) to systematically combing various comments and criticism upon the Sect in each dynasty, with focuses on methodical analysis of some representative persons' points such as Van Yu, Wang Ruoxu, Yuan Haowen etc. This paper re-locates a new status for Jiangxi Poetry Sect and re-evaluates its value.
