Choice Theory

Self-selection is unavoidable either in the sense of mankind's survival, or in the sense of mankind's communication, or in the sense of mankind's cognition and practice. The evolution of nature, the development of society, the progress of science and technology, together with the gradual deposition of self-consciousness and mental world, makes selection an increasingly common topic, which undoubtedly requires people to present their reasonable explanations that are different from the former ones, that is, to discuss it at the philosophical level. By theoretically explaining the selection theory, this dissertation attempts to expound the followings: the significance of selection, the value of selection, the basis of selection, the subject of selection, the object of selection, and the realization of selection. In other words, digging out the theoretical essence of the selection theory and its practical significance during the study on selection, and then, through the Marxism theoretical building on selection theory and the research on the law of cognition and society development, uttering sound response to China's goal of grasping the strategic opportunity period to bring the well-to-do society into life through the way of persistently practicing newly industrial development path. The dissertation consists of six parts, including introduction and five chapters.Introduction discusses the objective situation of contemporary science ＆technology, and of the society development, as well as the status quo of the study on selection theory, showing that selection theory have some theoretical and practical significance to the law of cognition and of society development, and China's present important orientation. Human's reflective mechanism lies in the unity of the inner selectivity of subject with the object. However, the development of society history has the character of the law of nature, but it is the result of self-selection of the subject. It is determinism but reflects the activity and creativity of self-selection, thus it is the unity of certainty and continuity. In this part, the author also summarizes the topic, structure and studying methods.In chapter one, the author expounds that self-existence is the logical starting point of self-selection. As belonging to philosophical category, self-selection firstly exists as a kind of behavior, both a kind of cognition process and a kind of practice process. It takes self-existence as its logical starting point, however, demonstrates the freedom and creativity of self during selection. The essence of self-selection lies in the freedom of self and reflects the rights of self-existence; but at the same time, it is restricted by objective certainty and other ego. Therefore, self-selection not only marks self's free rights, but should fully consider the existence and selection of other ego. Self-selection does not lie in the existence of self, but lie in the future. It reflects the defects of self-existence, and can satisfy self only through self-selection. Self-selection is always selecting and rejecting, which is the process of value evaluation and value realization at the same time. The standards of selecting and rejecting are geniuses, goodness, and beauty, thus form the value and moral direction of self-selection, and establishes the rights and obligations of self-selection.Chapter two discusses the basis of self-selection. Self-existence is based on objective materials. All selections are made in certain time and space. Human beings are making self-selection in "reality space" at different time. The self-selection of subject is mainly reflected by his ability of overcoming the limitations of history condition, hence allow the society to develop a dialectic prospect. Self needs, desires and expectations are the inner dynamos of self-selection, while the wide range of self-selection and its complication of self needs decide the multiplicity and multilayer of self-selection.
