Kierkegaard's thought deals with theology, philosophy, literature and psychology etc. However, the deep background and the profound spirit of his thought are Christian theology, the aim of he clingingly pursues in his lifetime and the tenet and kernel of his thought revolve around the Christian theology. Therefore, my dissertation attempts to discuss the theory of his indirect communication in the background and context of Christian theology. This dissertation holds that indirect communication is the most remarkable characteristic or style of Kierkegaard's whole life, thought, mode of thinking and mode of expression, almost all of his works and thought is indirect communication with the man immersed in the illusion of Christendom. Therefore, it's a key to interpret his thought from the perspective of indirect communication. The essence and nucleus of the theory of his indirect communication consists that it's a Socratic maieutic practised by Kierkegaard in the Christendom. The goal of his works and thought is to indirectly guide, admonish, enlighten and hint the man in the Christendom, help them remove the illusion rooted in their heart, choose and appropriate the Christian truth.In the introduction, my dissertation mainly explains several questions as follows, why do I choose to interpret and anatomize Kierkegaard's thought from the perspective of indirect communication, the theoretical and practical significance of this select subject, the research status in the domestic and foreign academe, the stand, angle and method of my study, the main problems I will solve in my dissertation and my innovations. The specific content of my dissertation develops in six chapters. In the first chapter, the author analyzes Kierkegaard's theory of communication, summarizes his definition of communication and the factors, types and mediums of communication, and especially expounds his thought of indirect communication, including the connotation and the quality of his indirect communication and the relation between indirect communication and direct communication, and points out that existence is the "Archimedean Point" of his indirect communication. In the second chapter, the author expounds the theoretical origin of Kierkegaard's indirect communication from the perspective of philosophy (Socrates and Lessing) and theology (Jesus Christ), and analyzes the Christian background of the theory of indirect communication.
