The famous Russian psychologist Vygotsky lived a shot but brilliant life during which he founded the cultural-history theory and its methodology. As treasures in psychology knowledge warehouse this theory not only produced great influence at his time but also plays an active role in contemporary psychology. 'Vygotsky Phenomenon' in the west is powerful proof. The debate between Vygotsky and Piaget represented two different research lines of developmental psychology and initiated two different kinds of constructivism, ie cognitive constructivism and social constructivism, which interact and complement mutually and testify the advancement of developmental psychology in the 20th century. The theory of the zone of proximal development underwent the test of time and practice and entered the discourse core of modern educational psychology. It inspired modern educational reforms in dynamic assessment, companion collaboration etc and merged into a series of modern teaching models such as scaffolding instruction, collaborative instruction, reciprocal instruction, situated instruction. Vygotsky's elaboration and analyses about psychology crisis are still of great significance today. The symptoms and causes he described still exist in contemporary psychology. Vygotsky's way of dealing with psychology crisis provided inspiration and helped contemporary mainstream psychology to get away from dilemmas and predicaments. Vygotsky's concentration on culture factor was powerfully annotated in the culture turn of contemporary psychology. The reemergence of cultural-history theory provides a unique opportunity for the development of modern psychology. It is a new methodology for the unity of psychology and makes many psychologists from different branches such as cross-cultural psychology, indigenous psychology, culture psychology, multicultural psychology concentrate on culture. As a pioneer of social constructionist Vygotsky provided a epistemological base for social constructionist psychology. Social constructionist psychology inherited Vygotsky's rebellious spirit and shook the basic hypothesis of modern psychology. The movement of 'Vygotsky Phenomenon' is now in the ascendant. Vygotsky's theory wiped off historical dust, sparked with brilliant light of the times. The emergence of 'Vygotsky Phenomenon' is not accidental. The western scholars, especially American scholars, are active in searching new theory frames. Vygotsky put forward many new ideas to promote their explorations. Vygotsky is a pioneer not only for his own era but also for our era. Today the study of Vygotsky is not just about the historical function of a historical figure but also about the practical significance of a lively modern man to contemporary psychology.
