Medicine And Relevant Vocabularies In Diwan Lughat Al-Turk Copmendium Of The Turkic Dialects

According to the wide lingual investigation in the region of Turki-speaking nationalities, Mahamud Kashgali, a famous scholar and linguist at Kashgar in Xinjiang, compiled Diwan Lughat al- Turk Copmendium of the Turkic Dialects in Bagdad in 1070's. The dictionary likes as an encyclopedia that annotated every Turki region and tribe by Arabic. As soon as the dictionary was found, it immediately attracted attention the international academe. From 20^th century, many domestic and foreign scholars have studied the dictionary from the different fields, especially in these fields, such as linguistics, geography, ethnonymics, literature, folklore etc.. Although there have some dissertations, but it is seldom appear that medicine and relevant vocabularies are classified, marshaled and special researched. It is also the purpose of writing this article. The author collected, classified, differentiated and analysedis criminated the medical and relevant vocabularies more than 1000 words or items from the dictionary there has total 6772 words or items in it. They are divided into nine sorts. Base on the medical and relevant vocabularies, the author attempt to show us the relationship between them and the social life of the time. And make an effort to describe social and iatrical condition in Kara Han Dynasty. Then it deeply describes the whole social life of the time. The article just is a pioneer attempt, before this, the scholar rarely has done it. The author thinks that the medical problems related with the all kinds of social life. Meanwhile, it is an important subject that studies the ancient medical problems. The author uses traditionally historical methods that combine with other subjects, such as iatrical anthropology, iatrical sociology, iatrology, hygienics, pathology, pharmacology, statistics etc., by sorting out, analyzing and studying all medicine and relevant vocabularies, then dissertate the view of social life in Kala Han Dynasty.The article is divided into two big parts, total twelve chapters, monograph, appendix and index.In preface, beginning of introduce about the dictionary and its author, the author of this article comments on the domestic and foreign translations and their study.
