Henan in the Westen Zhou dynasty was an important place where Ji-Zhou culture and Yin-Zhou culture collided, fused and developed to compose the traditional Chinese culture, and a stage where Chinese nation firstly fused and formed. Reflected societal polity, economy and culture at that time, a lot of Western Zhou tombs were excavated in Henan.On the basis of former researches, according to archaeological theories and methods, this dissertation tries to synthetically research graves of the Western Zhou dynasty in Henan, combing historical documents and inscriptions on bronze. By systematically putting more than 2000 Western Zhou tombs unearthed in Henan in order, tomb forms were basically researched by stages, relations between tomb formes and its owners classes were analyzed, and time sequence of Western Zhou tombs in Henan was built. Then, regional characteristics of Western Zhou tombs in Henan were investigated and their nations and races in Henan were discriminated. Through comparing Western Zhou tombs in Henan and Shaanxi, this dissertation exposed a process that Ji-Zhou culture assimilated, mixed with, and developed Jin-Zhou culture and formed traditional Chinese culture at last.This dissertation is composed by seven sections: I introduction; II research on grave forms and structures; HI research on graves by stages; IVresearch on regional characteristics of graves and their states and races; V comparison Western Zhou tombs in Henan and Shaanxi; VI research on grave institution in Western Zhou dynasty and others; VII conclusion.Preface includes introduction of importance of Henan in the Western Zhou dynasty; summarization of Western Zhou graves excavated in Henan, introduction of present research and problems on Western Zhou graves in Henan and methods and purpose of this dissertation.Chapter one: research on forms and structures of graves.
