This dissertation carried on an all-round research on the Pure Land Thought of the Indian Buddhism. It made clear the forming and development of Pure Land of the Indian Buddhism. It has three parts: the prolegomenon, the body and the epilogue.The prolegomenon mainly includes four aspects. Firstly, it introduced the meaning of Pure Land, figuring that Pure Land has two meaning. In a broad sense, it is a socially peaceful and naturally beautiful world or place. In a narrow sense, it is the world with both beautiful sceneries and the teachings of Buddha. Standing on the point of the broad sense, the dissertation divided all Pure Lands into four kinds: the Human's Pure Land, the Heavenly Pure Land, the Buddha's Pure Land and the Utmost Pure Land. Secondly, it analyzed the principle of Pure Land's forming and the thought of Mind Clear Then World Clear. Thirdly, it elaborated the importance of the Pure Land thought in the all Buddhist thoughts. And it showed the innovative achievements. Finally, it introduced the status quo of the study about this theme.According to the gradation of the Pure Land's development, the body of the dissertation analyzed many Pure Lands' establishment, condition, and relative sutras, and it compared different methods of going to Pure Land in different main relative sutras.
