On The Book Of Zuoshi Huijian

As a famous historical book in our China, Tso chuan was one of the important ancient codes and records. And it's valuable to the research of ancient Chinese society and culture. As an important explanatory work of Tso chuan, Tso shih hui ki'an was written by Tzu ti'en Ku'ang hung, who was a Sinologist in the era of the late Ki'ang Hu and the former Ming Chi. According to this, this book is not only important to the research history of Spring and Autumn Annals and Tso chuan, but also is very valuable to the research of ancient Chinese society and cultures.However, because it had too many volumes and was not easy to read, there were only a few researches on this book, among which we could not find any full-scale research works. For this reason, this thesis will compare Tso shih hui ki'an with the book of ChunKi'u Jingchuan Jijie written by Tu Yu and the book of ChunKi'u Tsochuan Zhu written by Yang Bojun. According to the compare, we could see its important position in the the explanatory history of Tso chuan. And according to it, we could find its explanatory characteristics and achievements, from which we could also see its document values to the research of ancient Chinese history and culture. In addition, we could find that it had epitomized the explanatory notes of Tso chuan by analyzing its absorbing the research achievements of Spring and Autumn Annals and Tso chuan before 20st century.This thesis analyses fully Tso shih hui ki'an's succession and developments to ChunKi'u Jingchuan Jijie through the means of correcting, deepening, enlarging, and etc. During the compare, we can reveal that Tso shih hui ki'an is more explicit than that book of Tu Yu. And based on this, this thesis probes into the influence of academic learning to Tso shih hui ki'an, and its explanatory characteristics and achievements. During the collating, Tso shih hui ki'an looked on the ancient copy of Chinze Wenku as its master copy. At the same time, it also referred to many copies, from which it provided us a valuable copy of Tso chuan, and it unfolded the value of the copy of Chinze Wenku before our eyes. Its collating according to the copy of Chinze Wenku could also supplement the Seven Classics Mencius Textual Criticism, which was written by a Japanese collating researcher named Shan Chingding.In the explanatory notes, Tso shih hui ki'an's good at textual exegesis, geographical features,rites,and institutions in detail.
