| Jinling Scriptural Press is the first publishing house founded by scholar named Yang Wenhui in Nanjing in modern China. It is a cultural organization on Buddhism, involved emendation, engraving, scriptural books vendition and run schools. In those years, Yang found about 300 kinds of canon books lost from Tang Dynasty from Japan, and he chose some to engrave, it provides important ancient works to the Buddhists and scholars. This press had published these canon books for about 150 years, and it also publishes those books nowadays. It contributed a lot in spread Buddhism. He also found an organization on research Buddhism to develop the Buddhism doxy. At the same time, he found Jetavana Hermitage to improve modern education for monks. This thesis chose Jinling Scriptural Press as a research object, used the method of Philology, lucubrated on those historical materials, based myself upon those documents, inheritting traditional cultural heritage in the research method, focuses on its history and engraving, renewedly narrates the evolution about the organizational system, reviewes the careers such as publishing, modern education and prelection. This thesis provided full and accurate authentic investigation not only on the inquiry into the problem about the effect of this organization in the Buddhist revival in modern China, but also in the evaluation measure of this press by posterity. |
