Along with the development of the study on the imperial examination system, a higher request to the use of historical materials comes into being. But most researchers prior the straightly using of data to studying and collating them firstly, consequently some of their conclusions seem like dubious because some of the data are not trustworthy in the materials they quoted. This dissertation makes a textual research on the materials about imperial examination system of the Ming Dynasty, and based on the textual research, we write a brief biography for each one of Jiangxi Jin-Shi of the Ming China. It is the most fundamental work for us to study deeply on the Jiangxi Jin-Shi and can also provide important data to promote the research of the imperial examination system of the Ming Dynasty.The paper begins with a preface in which a short review on the research of the imperial exam system of the Ming Dynasty is given. Some errors in this research are pointed out and the essential reason is explained as that some of the scholars at present neglect the textual research on the materials. Hence it is necessary for us to study on the historical materials firstly, and the main idea of this paper is to correct the information about Jiangxi Jin-Shi of the Ming Dynasty, which is recorded wrongly. The main method is comparing the data with each other.The main body of this paper can be divided into 2 parts. Part 1 makes a comment on the documents that record Jiangxi Jin-Shi of the Ming Dynasty. Some mistakes exist in those documents are brought to light such as the official ages recorded in the list of palace examinations, the edition problem of huangming gongjukao and leixing dengkekao, and wrongly recording about Jiangxi Jin-Shi of guochao like Jin-Shi timingbeilu and some other documents. This paper aims at all those problems. Tnen the authour calculates the precise sum of the countrywide Jin-Shi in the Ming Dynasty, which is the background to analyze Jiangxi Jin-Shi. The sum and the distributing of Jiangxi Jin-Shi during the same period are also figured out, and some changes are concluded with the statistics. The one is that the early 80 years of Ming, from Hongwu to Jingtai, was the prosperous time of Jiangxi Jin-Shi in which one third of the countrywide Jin-Shi come from Jiangxi, but the proportion of Jiangxi Jin-Shi in the country dropped sharply since Tianshun on to the end of the Ming Dynasty. The other is the importance of Ji'an Fu and Nanchang Fu changed at the beginning of Jiajing, that is to say that Ji'an Fu was the most important area produced Jin-Shi in Jiangxi during the early time of Ming, while Nanchang Fu became the N.O 1 during the late.Part 2 studies on several kinds of errors or carelessness about some of the Jiangxi Jin-Shi of the Ming Dynasty when they were recorded in the documents. Chapter 1 studies on the names of Jiangxi Jin-Shi. It was not rare for Jin-Shi to change their names in the Ming Dynasty. Therefore some literature made mistakes in recording their names. This chapter carries on the textual research in such aspects as that recovering of the surnames, changing the second names and sheer clerical errors.Chapter 2 studies on the native places of Jiangxi Jin-Shi of the Ming Dynasty. The native place has the quite vital significance regarding the limitation of quota of candidates in the imperial exams and the statute that civil officers could not be assigned to their native places in the Ming Dynasty. There exist some mistakes in some works when recording the native places of Jiangxi Jin-Shi. This chapter carries on the textual research in such aspects as sheer clerical errors, omitting their ancestral places, or mistaking their ancestral places and so on.Chapter 3 studies on the misrecording of the years and positions in the list when some of Jiangxi Jin-Shi got their degrees in some works.
