Arthur Henderson Smith, a missionary of A.B.C.F.M, had been inChina for 54 years. Impact by the changed attidute of Chinese to theforeigners before and after 1900, Simth had sufferd the difference experienceand mood in China, and his views on China changed accordingly. Because ofhis "separation" from China, Smith's views on China was an "impression".Itwas obtained by the standard of Western clucture, and was entirely for thepurpose of propagation of Christianity. But his concludions about theChinese Characteristics were widly spreaded in the Japan, China andAnglo-American country.
