Up till now, Scholars of literary theory and criticism in China has not yet had a systematic study on gender poetics, which has undergone rapid development in the past twenty years. So this dissertation anchors its research into gender poetics in the mainland of China from a global perspective. This dissertation begins with the concepts invoked in gender poetics and probes what perplexes the research of woman literary writings. Special attention is paid to the native gender poetics in China and the localization of western gender poetics in China, which are based on the research of woman literature and its typical manifestation, the feminist literary criticism. In this process, we respect all the existing divergences, not studying gender for the gender's sake.Meanwhile, We proceed this issue from a new poetic perspective in proposing that the three modes of gender poetics in China are predicated on a multicultural gender aesthetic awareness and a largely similar aesthetic goal: On the one hand, gender poetics in China, in which feminist aesthetic practice of Chinese citizens propels aesthetic theorization in constructing a harmonious society in China, provides a peculiar reference in a global view. On the other hand, interpersonal, including intersexual, solidarity and harmony based on divergences, which finds expression in intercultural aesthetic strategy, can be accepted as universal cultural ethic norms. To sum up, by adopting Marxist materialist and historical perspective, and by applying intercultural comparative methodology, this dissertation studies the problems of human beings and their sexual identity rather than the "sex" problems of the demonized females or the so-called sexual relationship between man and woman. Also, this dissertation serves a more straightforward realistic purpose for feminist writings in China---to escape from the dead end of an increasingly narrow subject matter and thereby to promote the artistic quality of Chinese feminism.
