The main purpose of this project was to distinguish self-worth of domains of self-evaluation and self-worth of processes of self-evaluation, and verify the bidimensional model of self-worth in a fully Jamesian perspective, and construct a concept system on self-worth, and explore the function of self-worth.Through reviewing the literatures on Jamesian model of self and self worth, main theoretical constructs and empirical studies, the study verified the process of self-worth, and divided it into self-worth of glass-of-self, self-worth of self-perception and self-worth of social comparison. The study adopted an indigenous study strategy to explore the content of self in Chinese and found it was included 11 categories or 150 items. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were adopted to explore and test the construct of domains of self-evaluation among Chinese university students. The study confirmed the six dimensions model of domains of self-evaluation.Multi-domain-Multi-process Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MTMM CFA) was adopted to test the bidimensional model of self-worth. Path Analysis was adopted to study the gender dissociation on self-worth of processes of self-evaluation, and correlation analysis was adopted to verify the relation between personality traits and self-worth.The main creative finding of this research on theory included: This project distinguished self-worth of domains of self-evaluation and self-worth of processes of self-evaluation , confirmed the bidimensional model of self-worth and verified the gender dissociation on self-worth of processes of self-evaluation. The main creative finding of this research on application included: This project explored the content of self in Chinese, developed Chinese University Student Domains of Self-evaluation Questionnaire and developed Chinese University Student Self-worth Questionnaire.
