" The Revolution in the field of novel" is an important event in the history of modern novels, it advocated "the new novel", and called on the novels serving for government, society, even for the social reform. " The Revolution in the field of novel" marked the beginning of traditional Chinese novels' transformation. However, it must not be seen as a sudden event, the modernization of traditional Chinese novels can be not initiated successfully by Liang Qi—chao. Prior to this a few decades, the traditional Chinese novels has already started various changes in the internal structure, these changes became the necessary preparations for " The Revolution in the field of novel"in the several decades.The decades fore and after the Opium War, China's traditional novels inherited the previous generation model creation, it developed and gradually opened up new themes for example as Xia—xie novels .In 1843, Shanghai became a treaty port, under the influence of the Western Idea gradually, Shanghai has becoming a forward base for the exchange of Chinese and Western and modern cultural center. With the emergence of new media such as newspaper and the import of advanced printing technology in China,the traditional Chinese novels face a huge impact.The Shen—Bao Press established in 1872, and published works of fiction on newspaper, printed traditional novels in use of advanced technology, these marked the beginning of the ancient novels modemization.First published way of novels had changed,the past novels published like a book, novels has printed on the press, or supplied free with issue. Thus novels readership has been increased resorting to the spread of newspapers, while these changes also began to affect the author's writing and language. Second, the novel published into the machine printing stage,advanced printing technology as a substitude for traditional print led surge in the number of publications. For a time, the market's fierce competition, such as great difference in price and the phenomena of pirating, however novel published in the independent regulation of the market increasingly move toward stability.The Shen—Bao Press provide the possibility of publishment for some works such as "Ye Yu Qiu Deng Lu".These novels show the people's livelihood in the war. During this period of important classical Chinese fiction writers have begun to real life. Popular fiction was to show that the prevalence of Xiayi—Gongan novels and Xiaxie novel focus on modern urban life of Shanghai. In 1894, the outbreak of war between China and Japan , and aroused the Chinese people's sense of crisis and sense of salvation. Novels as well as attention on social events, these novels is a direct reflection of China's current reality, aimed at summing up the lessons of history, lead the people reflection. The arising of Novel Translation is one of the factors. The Chinese reformist saw foreign novels as a carrier of Western civilization, to enlighten people. This process eventually caused the people to accept the extraterritorial novels, and even affect China's traditional concept of novels.Finally, in 1902 " The new novel" marked " The Revolution in the field of novel" produced.From then,Chinese novels has been flourish.The emergence of this result owe not to the call of " The Revolution in the field of novel", but the development of modern fiction for decades .
