The personality vulnerability to depression is the stable personality traits that make person more likely to get MDD or be depressed for long time.Research around this concept will help us to understand the issue of personality adaptability deeply, the theoretical integration of basic personality and the prevention of depression.Researchers from the west have exploring it for years and is still focus on it.However, there is no real Chinanized theories and studies about it by now. With the tenet of "serving for the society"and "doing Chinanized research ",This study want to integrate theoretic discussion and empirical research, base itself on Chinese and use west research for reference. It used many methods and perspectives to systematically explore the issue of Chinese personality vulnerability to deppression. The schedule of the study is:first, exploring the characteristics and the structure of Chinese personality vulnerability to deppression with a bottom up approach;second, testing the structure of the personality vulnerability with the methods of psychometrics and obtaining a operationalised description of Chinese personality vulnerability based on normal people;third, testing the effect of Chinese personality vulnerability, stress and social support on the depression of college students with a longitudinal study.forth, exploring the relationships between the self-concept of Chinese ,the attachment type and Chinese personality vulnerability;finally, exploring the specificity of brain neural activity among normal individuals with Chinese personality vulnerability to depression. So this paper contains six studies. In study 1, In order to exploring the characteristics and the structure of Chinese personality vulnerability, MDD patients are selected as the typical individuals with personality vulnerability and psychiatrists are investigated with questionnaire and interview. In study 2,items of the questionnaire are identified basing on the study 1 and considering the specificity of the vulnerable individual. By testing college students and using methods of item analysis, exploring factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation research to develop the Questionnaire of Chinese personality vulnerability to deppression, and test its reliability and validity. In study 3,basing on the self-developed Questionnaire ,the effect of Chinese personality vulnerability, stress and social support on the depression of college students are tested with a longitudinal study. In study 4,the relationships among the self-esteem, the instability of self-esteem and Chinese personality vulnerability are researched. In study 5,the relation between the attchment type and Chinese personality vulnerability are tested to explore the development of the personality vulnerability. In study 6,individuals with high and low personality vulnerability among normal college students are selected separately with self-developed Questionnaire, and then the specificity of the brain neural activity of the individual with high vulnerability are tested. The main conclusions were drawn from those researches as following:(1) Chinese personality vulnerability to deppression are refleted especially in individual's attitude about himself, the attitude about others, interpersonal communication, the way of dealing with interpersonal issue and the way of doing things. For vulnerability Chinese individual, There exist intensive conflict between his inner mind and behavior. The extremalization of the view of "face" in Chinese culture is a important part of Chinese personality vulnerability to deppression.(2)The reliability and validity of Questionnaire of Chinese personality vulnerability fit the requirement of psychometrics, with five dimensions which are and 51 formal items. These five dimensions are emulousness, defensiveness, self-absorption, perfectionism and compliance.(3) Chinese personality vulnerability predict the college students' depression very well, with and influwence depression the most.Perceived social support make a mediation between personality and depression.(4) Emulousness, defensiveness, self-absorption,and compliance are correlated negatively with self-esteem;emulousness,defensiveness,perfectionism and compliance influenced instability of self-esteem positively.(5) The attachment relationship are related with Chinese personality vulnerability. The alienation between parents and individual influenced Chinese personality vulnerability the most. However,Perfectionism was not related with the attachment.(6)After control the depression history of subject and its family, Chinese individual with high personality vulnerability showed specificity of the brain neural activity. In Contrast with the low group, the high group demonstrated a pattern of relative frontal hypo-activity on alpha-band measures; In visual GO/NOGO experiment, they demonstrated difficult in target evaluation and identfication , plus a high focused resourcement and a high mental load in early attention at the nerocognitive level. To sum up, the innovations in the present research are as follows:as to the theory, the study explored the characteristics and the structure of Chinese personality vulnerability to deppression with a bottom up approach, which can serve as the basis to continue research the relation between Chinese personality and depression;as to the methods, the study used the EEG and ERP to test the specificity of the brain neural activity of the individual with high vulnerability.Future research should continue in: explore the relation between Chinese personality vulnerability and the self of Chinese, especially self-supporting,self-confidence and self-strengthening;explore the origin of the personality vulnerability completely;explore the mechanism of the influence of culture to Chinese personality vulnerability;and explore the maladaptive nature of the personality vulnerability.
